3 common signs of plumbing problems
If you are a homeowner who is not a handyman type, you may not know all the details of your plumbing system or when you might need certain plumbing services unless a problem arises. At ACCL Plumber we know plumbing problems are never a fun thing to deal with and are usually not the surprise you want – Thats why we put together this article to go over the top 3 plumbing problems and how you can avoid them.
3 signs of Plumbing problems:
1.Clogged bathroom drains
Bathroom drains such as sinks, showers, and tubs can become clogged due to hair, makeup, and dirt (etc). Drains arent designed to handle all sorts of debris and can end up draining slowly and becoming clogged overtime. To keep your bathroom drains from clogging you should always keep in mind what you’re allowing to put down the drain. However a clogged drain can be un-clogged by removing the stopper or grate and using a snake to pull out anything that may be causing the issue.
If your drains are still clogged after trying to remove debris you should call your local plumber! Checking with a plumber about these issues can often help you avoid major plumbing damages in the future.
2. Leaking toilets
If you notice your toilet is constantly running even though no-one has flushed it, or you can see visible signs of water pooling/ leaks around your toilet. It can be a sign that the flush valve or flapper in your toilet tank has worn out. Flush valve mechanisms overtime become used and worn, when this happend they need to be replaced. This valve is controlled by the toilet handle, when you push down the flush valve moves water from the tank and into the toilet bowl. Occasionally the chain or lever connecting the flush valve to the toilet handle can become caught/ keep the flapper open. When this happens your toilet will be in a constant state of flushing and filling costing your monthly water bill to be quite costly. By checking on the flush valve and flapper even now and again can help you find the problems before they become an issue. A flush valve is a super easy piece to replace and is very inexpensive.
If the flush valve or flapper isn’t the reason why your toilet keeps running or leaking you should call your local plumber ASAP.
3. Dripping Faucets
Not only can the constant sounds of water dripping become annoying, but it also wastes water which can cause a higher water bill. If left unchecked a dripping faucet can also indicate a deeper problem within your pipes. Getting a professional to take a look would be in your best interest!
